Dear Student,

For the last decade, the number of students wishing  to study a few months at the Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB) has dramatically increased. The ULB Faculty of Social and Political Science / Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management (more commonly called ¢SOCO¢) is proud to be ranking first in students exchanges. We interpret this as a recognition for our philosophy and for our dynamic. Our philosophy aims at international excellence in the framework of our University classical missions: research, teaching and services to society. Our dynamic aims at constantly improving our welcome standards: welcoming of our students, of our employees and of students from all parts of Europe and the world.

Carrying out an exchange program in a Faculty that counts over five thousands students  will enable you not only to meet a great number of Belgian students, but will also give you the opportunity to meet other exchange students from the whole world.

The opportunity to study abroad is an extremely enriching experience, allowing you to discover another culture, other scientific and pedagogical methods, maybe another language, professors, high level researchers, and different teaching methods.

While carrying out your exchange in the University of the European capital city, you will have the opportunity to discover Brussels as a very international city, with a long tradition of cultures and languages mixing. Thanks to its very central position, you will be hearing all languages from the European Union.  You will also of course discover some very traditional Belgian specialities, such as beer and chocolate, or even for the most intellectual amongst you, cartoons. You will see that Brussels is a city where life is good. Enjoy the Bois de la Cambre and the Forêt de Soignes   for a walk or a run.

The Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB) is one of the best universities in Europe. It includes seven faculties : SOCO, Law, Sciences, Philosophy and Letters, Psychological and Educational Sciences, Applied Sciences/Polytechnics and Medicine, and has a proven international appeal: over twenty-five percents of its regular students are coming from abroad.

The programs in Political Science, in Management, in Social Sciences, in Labour Sciences, or in Economics, count hundreds of courses and seminars to take. They cover all subjects that could be of interest to you, from anthropology to finance, from macroeconomics to political theory, while studying mathematics, geography or marketing, so as to quote only a few.
